Summary This painting shows King Guy de Lusignan bowing to King Saladin after the Battle of Hattin in 1187 in which Saladin captured most of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Guy's bother Raynald was put to death by Saladin himself, having â„“had his head cut off with the victim's sword. Guy expected the same treatment, but Saladin is said to have told him, "A king does not kill a king." Guy was set free after a year's imprisonment.
