Summary Presents 22 tales, chiefly from South Africa and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, as written and told or retold by various authors, and compiled by Nelson Mandela. Some include incidental music by Johnny Clegg or Vusi Mahlasela; five tracks at the end of disc 3 are short songs, some drawn from the stories, by these two musicians.
Note Multimedia on enhanced compact disc includes a map of Africa showing where the tales are taken from; biographical notes on Mandela and the authors/tellers of the stories; a new illustration depicting a scene from 19 of the stories; illustrations for five more stories along with the URL for a web site to download audio files of these stories; words to the five songs, with English translations; glossary of words, names, and places associated with the stories; and complete track information, showing the title, writer or teller, reader, and country of origin for each story.
