Physicians, some of whom have glasses themselves, examine Jewish immigrants to determine if they too need eyewear. They do this using an eye chart, hung on the wall on the left. Eye charts like this one are still used today. The further down the page, the smaller the letters are. Clients are asked to read the letters and the doctor notes where they fail to accurately do so.ℓTo accommodate the immigrants, this eye chart is in Hebrew. |
