Amy writes books, draws, paints, cooks, sews, parents young children, tries to do yoga more often than not, and likes to use her creativity to both express herself and not take life too seriously. She's also found the time to write a few books!Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew (Potter Craft 2007), which is currently in its fourth printing, and Bend the Rules with Fabric: Fun Sewing Projects with Stencils, Stamps, Dye, Photo Transfers, Silk Screening, and More (Potter Craft 2009). Before having her three lovely daughters and moving back to her hometown of Portland, Oregon with her husband, she worked in Seattle as a commercial interior designer, using her handy degree in interior architecture from University of Oregon with a fine art, architecture and costume construction minor. Her love of trying new things has led her to explore all kinds of shenanigans. From sewing wedding dresses, to making short films, Amy has found a way to do a little bit of a lot of things. |

NOTE FROM AMY: In Chapter 3, Segment 2 (called "Add shaping and seam allowance"), please take note of the following: When adding the 1/2" seam allowance to the collar pattern, the edge you label FOLD should not have any seam allowance. In the video (in my excitement about this great project) I added a seam allowance (oops!) which you don't need to do because you are cutting on the fold, no seam allowance is needed. You won't be stitching there. If you add it, as I did, the collar will still look great, but it will be 1" wider overall than your original neck-opening tracing. - Amy |
