War leader and chief of the Oglala Lakota clan of the Sioux tribe, Red Cloud is best known today for his involvement in a conflict known as Red Cloud's War, taking place from 1866 to 1868. Fighting to gain control over the Powder River Country in northern Wyoming, Red Cloud bravely led his tribesmen in battle against the United States Army.
