Summary Written for young readers, this 1908 volume recounts the childhood of Marie Antoinette. Born Maria Antonia, Archduchess of Austria, she was the youngest daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Theresa, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia. She spent most of her time with her sister, Maria Carolina. The two shared the same governess and reportedly had dolls with dresses just as expensive as those ofℓtheir owners'. Marie once described the relationship with her mother as one ofℓ"awe-inspired fear" as her mother spent most of her time preparing marriage arrangements for Marie's other siblings. Marie's family described the betrothal of Marie and Dauphin Louis to be one of "great fortune." The two were married when Marie was 15 years old.
