| Summary |
A painting showing a young Henry VIII with Charles Quint (the Holy Roman Emperor) and Pope Leon X. Early in Henry's reign, he depended heavily on advisors, including the Pope. But that dependence was not to last, as throughout his reign, he took more and more absolute control of his kingdom. Henry's approach to not getting his way was usually execution of the parties involved, or in the case of Rome and the Pope, excommunication. |
