Summary The Czechoslovak Abortion Act of 1957 was a result of a bureaucratic decision to make abortion legal only under certain conditions. Since then, the issue of abortion has been represented through medical expert discourse. This article shows how this original discourse still hinders the reframing of abortion in terms of women’s reproductive rights.
