The diary of Mrs. John Graves Simcoe, wife of the first lieutenant-governor of the province of Upper Canada, 1792-6 : with notes and a biography by J. Ross Robertson, and two hundred and thirty-seven illustrations, including ninety reproductions of interesting sketches made by Mrs. Simcoe / Elizabeth Simcoe, John Ross Robertson.
This work combines dozens of illustrations and the diary entries of Elizabeth Simcoe, the wife of John Graves Simcoe who served as the first governor of Upper Canada and Fort York in the late 1700s. Elizabeth's detailed diary-keeping and paintings have helped historians immensely to piece together a picture of what life was like in the early days of Fort York, later to be Toronto.
