Summary A description of the landmark 1831 case of the Cherokee Nation versus the State of Georgia. The case was to determine whether the Cherokee Indian Nation was a foreign land or not, and therefore if the land cessations by the State of Georgia were to stand. It was found that the Cherokee Indian Nation was not a foreign land and the cessations stood as valid.
