Summary A painting depicting an episode during the Chickamauga Wars, when theℓCherokee were raiding Kentucky. During one raid, a war party, led by Hanging Maw and Coyatee, captured three teenage girls and brought them away in a canoe on the Kentucky River. One of the girls was Jemima Boone, daughter of explorer Daniel Boone. The girls were rescued three days later and were unharmed. Jemima reported that she and her fellow captiveℓhad been treated reasonably well.
