Summary "This book is the sequel to our Handbook of Clinical Hypnosis, in which we attempted to provide practitioners, researchers, and students with a survey of modem clinical hypnosis. Our goal was to present a diversity of viewpoints relevant to the science and practice of clinical hypnosis. We felt that such a book was necessary, given the explosion of interest in the scientific and clinical foundations of hypnosis that has occurred over the past decade or so--a trend legitimized by evidence that hypnosis can increase the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral treatments of a variety of disorders (Kirsch, Montgomery, & Sapirstein, 1995)"--Preface.
