Effective local planning is critical to disaster preparedness. Military installations and their civilian counterparts -- local government and local health-care providers -- can strengthen local-level disaster preparedness planning. This is the second report of a larger study aiming to develop planning support tools for local military and civilian planners. It describes a prototype tool that focuses on risk-informed, capabilities-based planning to determine (and address gaps in) the capabilities and resources a locality will likely require in the event of a disaster, with the prototype demonstration focusing on earthquakes, hurricanes, and pandemic influenza. The report also describes two social networking tools for local coordination of disaster preparedness and sharing of resources."--Provided by publisher. 588 0 Print version record. 650 0 Emergency management|zUnited States. 650 0 Electronic books|xUML. 650 7 Emergency management.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00908500 650 12 Disaster Planning. 651 2 United States. 650 22 Civil Defense. 651 7 United States.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01204155 700 1 Moore, Melinda. 710 2 National Defense Research Institute (U.S.) 776 08 |iPrint version:|tBridging the gap.|dSanta Monica, CA : RAND, 2012|z9780833076830|w(OCoLC)814374068 830 0 Technical report (Rand Corporation) ;|vTR-764/1-OSD. 914 ocn816140083 994 92|bCKE
