Summary |
"This book is an outgrowth of the studies carried on preceding and during the year 1933, when the Ancient Town of Windsor celebrated the Tercentenary of its settlement. As a feature of that celebration the author, who was serving as Chairman of the Tercentenary Committee, was asked to write a small book of the character appropriate for publication as a souvenir of the Tercentenary occasion. That book was published under the title, "Glimpses of Ancient Windsor." Much other valuable material was also collected which could not be used in the small volume of one hundred pages. Now when the entire State of Connecticut is celebrating the Tercentenary of its establishment it has seemed proper to issue a larger book as a part of Windsor's contribution to the historic significance of this year"--excerpt from page [5]. |
