Summary |
Recent U.S. Census figures indicate that the most rapidly expanding segment of the American populace is the Latino population. Hispanics have been a presence in America for centuries, and are variously exiles, immigrants, and transnationals. Mexican-Americans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans comprise the "Three Houses of Latino Culture" in the U.S., which share a common language but very different histories. Their influence on issues--from entertainment to politics to economics--is widespread and growing. |
