Summary "As of 2020, teacher candidates in twenty-three states are required to complete the edTPA, per state policies. An additional eighteen states are exploring or moving towards implementation of the assessment, doubling the number of future teachers who need to both understand and successfully pass this assessment in order to be certified. Unfortunately, while many of these teacher candidates have heard of the edTPA, and even engaged in similar tasks throughout their teacher preparation programs, they have limited access to information that links their experiences in the classroom with the mandates of the assessment. Mapping the Way from Teacher Preparation to edTPA Completion serves as a guide in preparing for the edTPA. Unlike other books on the assessment, this book is formatted to pair with curriculum, methods, and capstone course curricula. While the edTPA is important for teacher candidate's eventual credentialing, it is only an assessment. The learning that takes place during teacher preparation coursework and field experiences is critical to developing the professional capital candidates need to lead classrooms in transformative learning. Thus, this book includes features that make explicit connections between candidates' teacher preparation program learning, teacher performance assessments, and individual reflective practice. This book aims to help students better prepare for the edTPA and learn the best ways to not only prepare for the assessment, but also teaching in the future"-- Provided by publisher
