Summary In the aftermath of the sinking of the Titanic, a number of graphic accounts were released by publishers eager to capitalize on the shocking nature of the tragedy. Released shortly after the disaster, this 1912 volume provides a "Graphic and Thrilling Account of the Sinking of the greatest Floating Palace ever built," chronicling "Exciting Escapes from death and acts of heroism not equalled in ancient, or modern times." Though at times resembling a tabloid with its excitable language, it provides an interesting glimpse at the public sentiment that swirled on both sides of the Atlantic after the sinking. Included are numerous illustrations of the Titanic and its eminent passengers as well as a thoughtful introduction by the prominent American author and clergyman Henry van Dyke.
