Summary When their land is sold to developers, the magicians, acrobats, and puppeteers of Kathputli, a hand-built artist colony hidden away in the alleyways of Delhi since the 1970s, must find a way to unite or splinter apart forever. Filmed from 2011 to 2014, this documentray chronicles the last days of of Kathputli, focusing on Puran the Puppeteer, Rahman the Magician, and Maya the Acrobat as they approach their looming eviction.
Since the 1970s New Delhi's magicians, puppeteers, and circus performers have called the tinsel slum home. Last year the government issued relocation permits to the colony residents; the slum is to be bulldozed, cleared for development. Experience the last remnants of a culture born out of folk art and molded by poverty.
