Summary |
"This book presents a comprehensive summary of physiological psychology, based on scientific observation more so than philosophical analysis. The book attempts to gather within the limits of a single volume the main results of the modern study of psychology from the physiological and experimental points of view. The book is divided into three sections. The first section examines the structure and function of the nervous system. This survey includes the development of the nervous system, neurochemistry, reflex functions, and the cerebral hemispheres. The second section examines the relationship between the nervous system and the mind and mental phenomena. This section includes examinations of sensation and perception, time relations of mental phenomena, feelings and emotions, memory and the process of learning, and thought. The third section, "The Nature of the Mind, " discusses general relations of body and mind, dualism, mental unity, and reality"--Publisher.
