Gaines and details the controversy which erupted in the 1950s over his ground-breaking horror, crime and science fiction comic books. Using hundreds of comic book images and numerous clips from films and television series, this documentary highlights the life, death and rebirth of the most influential comic book company of all time. Interview subjects include EC editor and artist Al Feldstein, artists and comic historians like Jack Davis, Al Williamson, Jack Kamen, Marie Severin, Robert Overstreet and Russ Cochran. In addition, several authors and film directors, including John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Joel Silver and R.L. Stine, discuss how EC's horror comics inspired their work. Clips from such feature films as The Fog, Creepshow and Night of the Living Dead, as well as the Tales from the Crypt television series, are used to demonstrate this influence.
