Summary Set: "At the age of seventeen, Romy Schneider became an international star through her portrayal of Princess Elisabeth (Sissi) of Austria in the first of three lavish films directed by Ernst Marischka. While she would go on to work with some of the most influential and daring directors of the era, Schneider will always be remembered by this defining role. Newly restored in 2K, the 'Sissi Trilogy' is presented in its entirety along with Victoria in Dover, a precursor to the Sissi films, in which Schneider plays Britain's Princess Victoria."--Container.
Sissi: It is time for young Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph to marry and his mother, Archduchess Sophie, will make the choice of bride. She selects Bavarian princess Helene, but she doesn't anticipate that her son will fall for Helene's younger sister Princess Elisabeth, known as Sissi.
Sissi : the young empress: When Sissi gives birth to a daughter, she is not allowed to raise her, which had been the court's tradition. However, strong-willed Sissi rebels and flees to her parents.
Sissi : the fateful years: Sissi spends her days in Hungary with Count Andrassy, riding in the woods. When he declares his love for her, Sissi feels forced to break her relationship with him, and moves back to Vienna. It is soon discovered that she is seriously ill with tuberculosis. Dr. Seeburger doesn't think she will survive the winter, but a change of climate might help. After some months on Madeira, her mother, Duchess Ludovika, then decides to go there to help Sissi recapture the joy of life. When Dr. Seeburger examines Sissy at Corfu some weeks later, he finds her fully recovered. The Austrian ministers suggest that Emperor Franz Joseph should combine his reunion with Sissi with an official visit to Lombardy-Venetia. Austria is much hated there, but needs a good relationship with this country. The ministers think that Sissi can bring forth a miraculous change of sentiments in Lombardy-Venetia, just as she did in Hungary.
Victoria in Dover: England, the 19th century. Young Victoria is crowned the queen of England and her family and their trustful advisor, Lord Melbourne, plan marriage for her. She is to get married to a German prince Albert. But Victoria sees her future differently and decides to leave London for a few days. She goes to Paris. On her way to France, she stays incognito in a little tavern in Dover with a baroness. There by chance she meets a handsome man and falls in love head over heels. Later, however, in very strange circumstances, it turns out that the handsome man is prince Albert himself.
Forever my love: The original Sissi trilogy in a condensed English-dubbed version.
