It addresses the single-stage LSI theory by assuming that economic weights are fixed and known - or fixed, but unknown - to predict the net genetic merit in the phenotypic, marker and genomic context. Further, it shows how to combine the LSI theory with the independent culling method to develop the multistage selection index theory. The final two chapters present simulation results and SAS and R codes, respectively, to estimate the parameters and make selections using some of the LSIs described. It is essential reading for plant quantitative geneticists, but is also a valuable resource for animal breeders. 590 SpringerLink|bSpringer Nature Open Access eBooks 650 0 Selection indexes (Plant breeding) 650 0 Plant breeding. 650 0 Statistics. 650 7 Plant breeding.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01065287 650 7 Selection indexes (Plant breeding)|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01111377 650 7 Statistics.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01132103 650 7 Science|xLife Sciences|xBotany.|2bisacsh 650 7 Science|xLife Sciences|xZoology|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 Plant reproduction & propagation.|2bicssc 650 7 Animal reproduction.|2bicssc 650 7 Science|xLife Sciences|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 Life sciences: general issues.|2bicssc 650 10 Biometry.|0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85014244 650 20 Plant breeding|xBiotechnology.|0http:// scigraph.springernature.com/things/product-market-codes/ L24060 650 20 Animal Genetics and Genomics.|0http:// scigraph.springernature.com/things/product-market-codes/ L32030 700 1 Crossa, José,|eauthor. 776 08 |iPrinted edition:|z9783319912226 776 08 |iPrinted edition:|z9783319912240 914 on1055826092 994 92|bSTJ
