However, George Szamuely argues that NATO interventions actually prolonged conflicts, heightened enmity, increased casualties, and fueled demands for more interventions. Eschewing the one-sided approach adopted by previous works on the Yugoslavian crisis, Szamuely offers a broad overview of the conflict, its role in the rise of NATO's authority, and its influence on Western policy on the Balkans. His timely, judicious, and accessible study sheds new light on the roots of the contemporary doctrine of humanitarian intervention. 546 In English. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription History Reference Center Collection 610 20 North Atlantic Treaty Organization|zFormer Yugoslav republics. 610 27 North Atlantic Treaty Organization.|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00529467 611 27 Yugoslav War (1991-1995)|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01183774 648 7 1991-2003|2fast 650 0 Humanitarian intervention|zFormer Yugoslav republics. 650 0 Yugoslav War, 1991-1995. 650 7 HISTORY|zEurope|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 HISTORY|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 Humanitarian intervention.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00963572 651 0 Yugoslavia|xHistory|y1992-2003. 651 7 Yugoslavia.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01279262 655 7 History.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aSzamuely, George.|tBombs for Peace |z9789089645630 914 ocn880564913 994 92|bSTJ
