No corrían buenos tiempos para el rock cuando, tras unos primeros tientos inciertos, Kravitz enfrentábase ùa contracorriente, para mayor gloriaù a las modas del momento: en la cresta de la ola, rugía la incipiente insurgencia que, a hombros de sus conversos, hacía que el hip hop arrasara con los cimientos de la propia industria discográfica y, en el extremo más conservador, se resistía a fenecer la despampanante opulencia de las reliquias del rock más duro y grandilocuente que gastaban por aquel entonces sus más pálidos coetáneos. These were not good times for rock when, after some uncertain first steps, Kravitz faced ùa countercurrent, for greater gloryù to the fashions of the moment: on the crest of the wave, the incipient insurgency roared that, on the shoulders of his converts, made hip hop razed the foundations of the record industry itself and, at the most conservative extreme, it resisted the dazzling opulence of the relics of the hardest and most grandiose rock that its palest contemporaries were spending at that time.
