Summary Following his wildly successful and horrifyingly scary novel, Dracula, horror fiction author Bram Stoker published The Jewel of Seven Stars in 1903. Telling the story of an archaeologist’s plot to revive Queen Tera, an ancient Egyptian mummy, the novel is recognized as the first in a long line of resurrected mummy horror fiction stories. Containing a controversial gruesome ending, the novel upset Stoker’s publisher, Harper & Brothers, so much that they removed the ending entirely. In 1912, Stoker republished the novel with an alternative, less horrifying ending, but the delightfully strange 1903 version is the one featured in the Zombies: An Undead Collection anthology.
