Located just south of the Arctic Circle, Dawson City was settled in 1896 and became the center of the Canadian Gold Rush that brough 100,000 prospectors to the area. It was also the final stop for a distribution chain that sent prints and newsreels to the Yukon. The films were seldom, if ever, returned. The now-famous Dawson City Collection was uncovered in 1978 when a bulldozer working its way through a parking lot dug up a horde of film cans. Morrison draws on these permafrost- protected, rare silent films and newsreels, pairing them with archival footage, interviews, historical photographs, and an enigmatic score by Sigur Ros collaborator and composer Alex Somers. Dawson City : Frozen Time depicts the unique history of this Canadian Gold Rush town by chronicling the life cycle of a singular film collection through its exile, burial, rediscovery, and salvation"-- Container. 538 DVD; region 1; anamorphic widescreen (2.40:1); Dolby digital 5.1 (English); Dolby Digital 2.0 (English). 546 English dalogue; English SDH (subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing). 650 0 Motion pictures|zYukon|zDawson|xHistory. 650 0 Silent films|zYukon|zDawson|xHistory and criticism. 650 0 Motion picture film collections|zYukon|zDawson. 650 0 Motion pictures|xPreservation|zYukon|zDawson|xHistory. 650 0 Motion picture film|xPreservation|zYukon|zDawson. 650 7 Motion picture film collections.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01027145 650 7 Motion picture film|xPreservation.|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01027139 650 7 Motion pictures.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01027285 650 7 Motion pictures|xPreservation.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01027355 650 7 Silent films.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01118542 651 0 Dawson (Yukon)|xHistory. 651 7 Yukon|zDawson.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01895982 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01411635 655 7 Documentary films.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01710390 655 7 Feature films.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01710384 655 7 Film excerpts.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01726130 655 7 History.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01411628 655 7 Nonfiction films.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01710269 655 7 Silent films.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01710368 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01710450 655 7 Documentary films.|2lcgft 655 7 Silent films.|2lcgft 655 7 Film excerpts.|2lcgft 655 7 Feature films.|2lcgft 655 7 Nonfiction films.|2lcgft 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2lcgft 655 7 Documentary|vFeature.|2migfg 700 1 Morrison, Bill,|d1965 November 17-|escreenwriter,|efilm producer,|efilm director,|eeditor of moving image work. 700 1 Molyneaux, Madeleine,|d1962-|efilm producer. 700 1 Somers, Alex,|ecomposer (expression) 700 1 Jones-Gates, Kathy,|eon-screen presenter. 700 1 Gates, Michael|c(Historian),|eon-screen presenter. 700 1 Kula, Sam,|eon-screen presenter. 700 1 Russo, Christopher,|eon-screen presenter. 700 1 Weschler, Lawrence,|ewriter of supplementary textual content. 700 1 Zambenedetti, Alberto,|ewriter of supplementary textual content. 710 2 Hypnotic Pictures (Firm),|eproduction company. 710 2 Picture Palace Pictures,|eproduction company. 710 2 ARTE France,|edistributor. 710 2 Museum of Modern Art (New York, N.Y.) 710 2 Kino Lorber, Inc. 994 C0|bCKE
