The Florentine policeman and poet Carlo Arbati travels to another town to accept a poetry award, only to have the occasion spoiled by the killing of two Americans. It is a case of art forgery and blackmail, and Arbati helps solve it for a colleague on the local police force. By the author of The Last Castrato.
