520 Author Elizabeth Moje uses the voices of adolescents to
help teachers think about effective literacy instruction
in secondary school settings. The book offers strategies
for learning about students both in and out of the
classroom, and draws from adolescents' stories to
highlight what students need from teachers. The author
suggests an interdisciplinary, project-based pedagogy that
connects several different content areas and employs
multiple teaching and learning strategies. You will see
the benefits of building trusting relationships with
adolescents and helping them bring their out-of-school
experiences into the classroom.
