Summary |
A revolutionary executive order, the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Lincoln on January 1, 1863, during the American Civil War. Announcing the freedom of slaves in the ten states in the Confederacy, the address was a precursor to the Thirteenth Amendment, which made slavery illegal in the United States.â„“This volume contains an address further immortalizing the president and his groundbreaking speech. |
