Summary Children are introduced to the history and culture of the diverse groups of Native Americans that first lived in North America. Everyone learns to count to ten in the Pima language and say a few words in the Navajo language. A field trip to the southwestern Gila River Reservation near Phoenix, Arizona, shows the fun things that kids do in school as well as the traditional crafts still made by Native Americans today. The Inuit folktale Fox Fools Eagle is presented, children learn how to make their own sand paintings, and everyone sings along to "Chumash Welcome Song."
