Summary |
Twelve-year-old Annie is reluctant to travel to a village in Nepal for her father's two-month medical mission, but once there she assists at the clinic, makes friends with a local girl, and has adventures that change her life. Twelve-year-old Annie Ferris's father announces that the family will be spending the next two months in Nepal on a medical mission and that it will be an adventure. But living in a foreign country where Annie will have to eat yak cheese, sleep in a tent with her kid sister, Chelsea, and volunteer in a hospital full of diseases she's never heard of is hardly what she considers an adventure! Then Annie meets Nirmala, a girl close to her own age who introduces her to the real Nepal. Soon Annie, Chelsea, and Nirmala embark on a journey, and the girls find themselves in the thick of a mountainside forest on a real-life obstacle course, with snarling dogs, creaking rope bridges, and a quickly darkening night sky. Will Annie be ready for the adventure she finds after all? |
