Summary This is the second in a two-volume series that includes the many letters and memoirs of Cardinal de Bernis, the French cardinal and statesman that served under King Louis XV and known friend of Louis' mistress Madame Pompadour. This volume begins the Cardinals' accounts starting in the year 1757 and continues through the end of his term of service in 1758, when he fell into disgrace and was banished from court.
