The book "Początek" (Beginning) from the very popular series 'Stulecie Winnych' (A century of the Winny Family), following the fate of one family from the town of Brwinów, near Warsaw, against the background of the history of the mid-19th century. Zdun Antoni Winny settles down in Brwinów and falls in love with the youngest daughter of Jadwiga and Marian Wielichnowski - Bronisław. He tries to win the heart of Bronia and in 1874 they get married in the church of Saint Florian in Brwinów. Bronia - wise, resourceful and kind - is respected in the whole neighborhood. Antoni, in turn, is considered a good craftsman. It seems that a prosperous and peaceful future awaits them. However, life under the Russian partition is full of concerns, not only those related to repressions by the Russians.
