Forensic anthropologist Diane Fallon is driving through a downpour on a mountain road after picking up a set of rare Indian artifacts when a tree suddenly slams across the hood of her car - revealing a human skeleton in its hollow trunk. Starting to investigate, she's ambushed and forced to run for her life. Stumbling back to the house of the man who donated the artifacts, Diane finds him and his wife in their kitchen - with their throats slit.
