       of Italian neorealism: Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio De 
       Sica, Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini, and Michelangelo
       Antonioni.  While offering a solid postwar timeline, basic
       information about the intellectual movements that 
       influenced Italian filmmakers, and close readings of key 
       films, the subject of the documentary is less about 
       Italian cinema than Scorsese's passion for Italian cinema,
       especially the movies that made him fall in love with 
       moviemaking.  Viewers seeking a primer on Italian cinema 
       may be disappointed, while those familiar with both 
       Italian cinema and Scorsese's films will find much to 
       enjoy.
