520 High school nice-guy Ted scores an unlikely prom date with
beautiful Mary. Unfortunately, due to a turn of events,
the night is ruined before it even begins, and shortly
thereafter, Mary moves away with her family. Now, a single,
thirty-something Ted descides to resolve his feelings for
Mary. He is convinced by his friend Dom to hire inept
detective Pat Healy to find her. Healy returns from
Florida smitten with Mary, and misleads Ted about her
circumstances. Pat moves to Florida to pursue Mary for
himself. Ted discovers Healys ruse when his high school
friend Bob reports having seen Mary at a convention just
weeks earlier. Dom convinces Ted to locate Mary, then
joins him after bailing Ted out after he's mistakenly
jailed on his way to Florida. In the mean time, Healy has
been wooing Mary, but another of her admirers, architect
Tucker, has undermined Healys efforts by feeding Mary
incriminating information about him. Once in Florida, Ted
accidentally bumps into Mary and the two begin to date.
Healy confronts Tucker, and the two team up to undermine
       Ted's budding relationship with Mary.
