Summary |
This book takes us into the universe of Cuitláhuac during the few months in which he ruled the meshica empire. These months were enough for him to grasp that Malinche -- Hernán Cortés -- did not respect the codes of war, and that together swords, armor and horses were invincible against any of the battle strategies he had known. It is also the story of of the tlatoani who forced the Spaniards out of Tenochtitlan, chasing them through the valley of Anahuac, and who would have won if not for the unknown illness that covered its victims with bumps and ended in death. Two evils checkmated a great military and political strategist: gunpowder and smallpox. |
