Today, the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) appears to be on its way to becoming a modern, highly capable air force for the 21st century. This monograph analyzes publications of the Chinese military, previously published Western analyses of China's air force, and information available in published sources about current and future capabilities of the PLAAF. It describes the concepts for employing forces that the PLAAF is likely to implement in the future, analyzes how those concepts might be realized in a conflict over Taiwan, assesses the implications of China implementing these concepts, and provides recommendations about actions that should be taken in response. 588 0 Print version record. 610 10 China.|bZhongguo ren min jie fang jun.|bKong jun. 610 17 China.|bZhongguo ren min jie fang jun.|bKong jun.|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00549388 650 0 Air forces|zChina. 650 0 Air power|zChina. 650 0 Military doctrine|zChina. 650 7 TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING|xMilitary Science.|2bisacsh 650 7 HISTORY|xMilitary|xAviation.|2bisacsh 650 7 Air forces.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00802378 650 7 Air power.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00802495 650 7 Military doctrine.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01021106 651 7 China.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01206073 700 1 Cliff, Roger. 710 2 Rand Corporation. 710 2 Project Air Force (U.S.) 776 08 |iPrint version:|tShaking the heavens and splitting the earth.|dSanta Monica, Calif. : RAND, 2010|z9780833049322 |w(DLC) 2010037764|w(OCoLC)664114979 830 0 Rand Corporation monograph series ;|vMG-915-AF. 914 ocn703263259 994 92|bCKE
