Summary A descriptive study was designed to investigate adult women's knowledge and health beliefs regarding ovarian cancer, and to assess whether women at high risk for ovarian cancer have a higher level of knowledge related to risk for ovarian cancer. This study also investigated whether there was a difference in the knowledge level between adult female nursing graduate students compared to other adult female graduate students. An investigator-developed questionnaire was used. The 62 subjects ranged in age from under 24 to 59 years of age. This study alludes to the need for more education of all women regarding ovarian cancer and the risk factors. Education regarding ovarian cancer and risks may help improve the five-year survival rate by educating women to seek an earlier diagnosis.
