Summary Published in 1889, this was the first full-color art book published in New Zealand. Botanical artist Sarah Featon created the full-color artwork, reproduced here with chromo-lithographic plates. She and her husband Edward Featon wrote the descriptions of the native flowering plants of New Zealand and surrounding islands. The descriptions are both scientifically accurate and approachable for the general reader. Queen Victoria was presented with a copy of this book during her diamond jubilee.
