Summary |
This book, illustrated by George Cruikshank and his brother,ℓwas a wild success when it firstℓappeared in 1821. It was adapted into a play that ran continuously for two seasons at the Adelphi Theatre, inspired at least six different plays based on individual characters and launchedℓtheℓTom and Jerry craze in America. Egan also devised the Tom and Jerry cocktail for publicity, a mixture of eggnog, brandy and rum served hot. |
