With a particular focus on Ethiopia, the role of the state in igniting agricultural growth and in sustaining economic growth is highlighted as essential for low-income countries. Taking ideas from both economic history and development economics, the ability of Ethiopia and the rest of Africa to sustain recent rapid growth into something that can tackle the development agenda is discussed, alongside policy suggestions. This book overall presents an optimistic account of Africa and its economic prospects. It will be relevant to students and researchers interested in economic development and agricultural economics. Emelie Rohne Till is a Senior Lecturer in Economic History at Lund University. 588 0 Print version record. 590 Springer Nature|bSpringer Nature Open Access eBooks 650 0 Economic development|zAfrica. 650 0 Agriculture|zAfrica. 650 7 Agriculture.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00801355 650 7 Economic development.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00901785 651 7 Africa.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01239509 776 08 |iPrint version:|aTill, Emelie Rohne.|tAgriculture for economic development in Africa.|dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2022|z9783031079009|w(OCoLC)1328005927 914 on1336595890 947 MARCIVE Processed 2023/02/10 994 92|bSTJ
