Summary Twenty-three young people, ages ten through eighteen, share their experiences of the war, including Nazi concentration camps, the Warsaw ghetto, bombings, the Nazi blitzkrieg, and betrayal. This book marks the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. It includes 23 diaries written by young people ages 10 to 18 from several countries, including Poland, Holland, and Germany. These touching stories give insight into how people, especially children, survive horror. Some of the diarists are survivors, some are not. In this unprecedented anthology of diaries written by children from across Nazi-occupied Europe and England, 23 boys and girls, aged 10 through 18, recount in vivid detail the horrors they lived through, and sometimes did not survive. With a power that recalls Anne Frank, the diarists record their experiences with an unguarded eloquence that belies their years.
