Summary |
Despite the movement to train more culturally competent counselors, there is limited research regarding professional counselors' perceived multicultural competence and the adequacy of training in counselor education programs. The present study was designed to explore the issue of counseling from a culturally sensitive perspective. The sample for this study includes graduates or students from Saint Joseph College who have taken the multicultural counseling class in 2000-2004 and who are currently working in the field as a counselor or in the practicum or internship phase of their program. The Multicultural Awareness Knowledge Skills Survey (MAKSS) was used to measure the degree of students' retention of material learned in the course. |
