Summary |
Twelve year-old Javier Ibanez's bloodied body was sprawled on a sidewalk, while the vehicle that rammed him sped away from the scene. A tattoo on the boy's neck made Dan wonder if this was an accident, or was it a gang hit? When a Jaguar matching witness's descriptions was reported stolen, Dan learned the sporty car belonged to a Hartford attorney named Angelo Biaggio. Later the vehicle was found and confirmed as the murder weapon. With a band of juvenile car thieves running loose in the city, Biaggio was sure Javier Ibanez had been killed by one of the young joyriders who had swiped the Jaguar. Dan hadn't ruled out an intentional gang slaying, nor had he dismissed the homicide as anything other than the victim being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The savvy detective's investigation soon uncovered a dark truth, and it wasn't long before Dan was caught in a dangerous game that puts his family in harm's way. |
