Summary "Lucas is just a normal teenage boy who wants to go to the popular girl Melanie's party, but his father Nicolas is strangely over protective. But when Lucas spontaneously transforms into a monster in front of his classmates, his family secret is revealed and his life changes. He embarks on a quest to Monster Island to discover his roots. There, he meets his grandmother Carlotta, another young monster and finds himself face to face with more far-out situations that he can shake one of his new claws, fangs and wings at. Lucas ends up saving his new-found family from their evil uncle Norcutt, reunites with his dad, and they all learn that being a freak, isn't freaky--it means you're a member of a brand new type of family that you can proudly call your own."--Back cover.
