Stabbed in the back is a biographical novel based on the life of Irish immigrant James Gillispie who lived in Taunton, Massachusetts at the time of the American Civil War. He answered the call to duty for his adopted country and served as a private and a teamster for the Union Army receiving a wound that was unexpected and unusual. Ultimately James endured the trauma of war only to have to fight his government for a disability pension once he returned home. Some veterans of today may find they can relate to the trials and tribulations that Civil war soldier James Gillispie experienced in the army and as a veteran.
