Summary Complete story of the D-Day landings at Normandy through the eyes of all its participants. D-Day was the invasion and establishment of Allied forces in France during Operation Overlord, beginning the 6th of June, 1944, and was the largest seaborne invasion in history. It began with overnight parachute and glider landings, air attacks, naval bombardments, and an early morning amphibious landing.
