Los Angeles private detective Simeon Grist is hired by the chief of security at a Hollywood recording company to shadow Sally Oldfield, suspected of stealing company secrets. When Sally is murdered, Grist and his reporter girlfriend, Eleanor Chan, look for a link between the woman's death and a strange church that is using a 12-year old girl as the channel for the voice of a man who has been dead a millennium.
