Summary What most sets this volume apart from other editions of household tales are the translations that focus on capturing the "homely" talk of Germany into English. A few short pieces to which English-speaking mothers might object have been omitted, and the rest have been rendered into a "homely talk" compatible with English meanings. E.H. Wehnert's accompanying black and white illustrations are full of character and are in happy accordance with the spirit of the work. Together with the editors of this volume, E.H. Wehnert has artfully recreated the tales in a way that would delight the Grimm Brothers themselves!
